FTP setup in Dreamwweaver

Welcome to my web space. I will create a spot at my site where you can post files.

The first step is to create a new site definition in Dreamweaver. We used the site manager in the intro class, but not to this extent.

The first page of the site manager asks "What do you want to call this site?" , "Where are the files?", and "What is the web address for the root of the site?"

I indicated that my files are located in a folder called "web2site" on my hard drive.
The "images" folder is located inside of the main file folder.

The second page of the site manager deals with remote info. This is asking how to connect to my server.

Note the exact location of the ftp host.

The log in and password will change according to the user names and passwords I establish at my site.

Note that the entire class is sharing one user name and password. We will not all be able to use ftp services at the same time. Each class has a separate user name, but there might be thirty students trying to access the site files at the same time. PLEASE log in only when you are ready to move files. As soon as you have finished your transaction, log out so the next student can share this space.

To prevent overlapping of shared files, use the check in /check out feature.
