Paramount with Scrim

This is the same shot as the previous paramount lighting one, with the addition of a scrim. This is a diffusion panel that scatters the light rays. In this example, the scrim was a white material that was placed in front of the light.
Exposure is reduced when you diffuse light. This occurs because of two reasons: 1. You are blocking the light with something. 2. The light rays are scattered, so they no longer light the subject directly.
A comparison of direct and diffused light could be analogous to a single strand of hair and a strand of hair with the "frizzys". Diffused light is full of frizzys.
