When the subject is placed in diffused light, there are no dark shadows under the nose, cheeks, chin, on the neck, or in the eye sockets.

The subject is much more comfortable than on a high contrast (sunny) day. The bright sun is not overheating the subject, nor is there a lot of bright light in their eyes.

This shot was taken without any supplemental light or the use of a reflector.

Flat days may have a color shift to the blue side, so you should check the white balance.
