Grc 24 Cell Animation Projects

This is one of the early projects in the Flash animation class. We make a preliminary movie using the drawing tools, symbols, layers, masks, groups, and tweens. Then, to develop a sense of appreciation...the students make a cell animation project. This is much like the little "flip books" so many of us made in elementary school. Each frame is a separate entity. When played rapidly, the animation appears smooth.

The Assignment: Make a cell animation using a stick figure(s). Minimum length 100 frames in each of three scenes (minimum of 300 frames for the total movie). You are to create a story with a beginning, middle, and end (three scenes). Remember to use "onion skinning" to help you draw the next frame.

Cell animation uses a series of keyframes. There is no tweening in this project. This is similar to the "flip book" you probably made in elementary school.

You have three class sessions to complete this project. Remember to keep the subject and artwork appropriate to a school setting.
