It seems like just yesterday that the web was a new commodity. Remember when you first started "surfing" the Internet?
Now, students go to the web as their first source of information.
There are many design considerations in building a web site (a collection of web pages that are linked together). The intended audience, the appropriate style for the product or service, the color palette, and navigation are just a few items on that list.
Complicating this is the fact that everyone has a different monitor, there are different sizes of monitors available, resolution settings are not standardized, there are different browsers that can be used to view the site, and the end user can change the default type used by the browser.
With all of these variables, it is amazing that we are able to create anything that works.
On that subject there are a few approaches to creating the pages. "Old School" methods employ tables, frames, and html.
More contemporary methods involve CSS (cascading style sheet) and data-driven web pages.
The web 2 movement has been around for a while, and the look of pages has changed considerably. Along with this is the desire to collaborate on the net.
It is exciting to see this rapidly changing communication technology and even more exciting to try to keep up with the rate of change.
